The Heart of Corèe in Cool Jazz was released in 2002 by Synnara Music Co., Ltd. I had been doing some post-production work on an album for them, and the producer started talking to me about his idea to interpret Korean folk songs in an American jazz style. They supplied me with a bunch of recordings of folk songs, and no particular requirements, so I studied the songs and settled on a straight up jazz combo instrumentation, and began arranging. They wanted some of the tracks to have vocals, so armed with literal translations I took a lot of liberties and wrote some new lyrics. They gave me great freedom to pick a studio, a band, and the feels and arrangements of the tunes. The album was released in Korea, and maybe elsewhere, but certainly was never widely available nor marketed. Here it is in its entirety.
